About the Ballot Language

Ballot language will include the statement "THIS IS A TAX INCREASE."

A new legislative measure requires all Tax Ratification Elections for any school district to include the phrase “THIS IS A TAX INCREASE” on all ballot language. Homeowners ages 65 and older who have filed for and received the Over-65 Exemption will not see an increase over their frozen dollar amount if there have been no major additions or improvements to their home. Check your most recent Notice of Assessed Value Change to see if you will be impacted.

SEGUIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT PROPOSITION A: THIS IS A TAX INCREASE

Ratifying the ad valorem tax rate of $1.0828 per $100 valuation in the Seguin Independent School District for the current year, a rate that will result in an increase of 2.8 percent in maintenance and operations tax revenue for the District for the current year as compared to the preceding year, which is an additional $942,852, for the purpose of recruiting and retaining qualified staff, funding safety and security at each campus, and continuing student programs and general operations of the District.
